Initiatives

A city-led network of eight partner organizations providing free advising, training, and access to capital for Antioch’s small businesses and nonprofits. This initiative builds the “root system” of the local economy by making sure entrepreneurs can find the right support at the right time.

​A set of efforts to help business owners move from operating in isolation to organizing by corridor and industry. Through emerging associations and collaborative projects, local businesses, nonprofits, and the City are building shared voice, shared initiatives, and stronger commercial districts.

​An initiative focused on aligning the City’s purchasing power with its economic development goals. This work developed a practical toolkit for more transparent, accessible procurement— including model policies, RFP templates, and equity-focused preferences—so that over time more of Antioch’s annual spending can support local and diverse businesses.

A strategy to connect Antioch residents with local healthcare jobs. By mapping medical career pathways, identifying barriers, and convening more than 100 stakeholders, this effort produced a proposal for a medical innovation district feasibility study that centers equitable, locally rooted job creation.

​A place-based initiative to unlock Antioch’s underused heavy industrial land for employment-generating uses. Through a regional Brownfields Coalition Assessment grant and targeted marketing, this work aims to prepare key sites along the Eastern Waterfront for advanced manufacturing, clean technology, and other high-quality employers.

A long-term strategy to position Antioch as a competitive location for clean energy and green infrastructure companies. Building on Antioch’s location, affordability, and Green Empowerment Zone designation, this initiative identifies ideal firm types, outlines a clean tech attraction playbook, and forges partnerships to grow a just, climate-resilient local economy.
